What is an NFA item?
An NFA item is a firearm/firearm accessory classified as a National Firearms Act item that must be federally regulated in commerce. These include Suppressors, Short Barrel Rifles (SBR), Short Barrel Shotguns (SBS), etc. Ownership requires an approved Form 4 tax stamp that can be submitted to the ATF via eForms.
Our Monolithic Integral Suppressed Barrel (MISB) is classified as a suppressor and you must have an approved Form 4 tax stamp in order to own one.
What is the tax stamp process like for me?
If you live in the Great State of Texas, you have the option to visit our shop and have your paperwork done with us in Needville (77461). We have a fingerprint scanner in house so we can form both trusts and individual submissions. If you choose to get your tax stamp done with us, you may come to our shop for pickup when the stamp is approved. This is a two-visit operation, meaning you visit once to do your paperwork, then you visit again to pick up. If you live too far away from the Houston area, we recommend finding a local dealer that can process NFA transfers.
Your second option is to find an SOT-licensed dealer. Use this website to find local stores near you. Let us know what dealer you want us to send your MISB to, then once your dealer receives the MISB, you may come in and get your paperwork done with your dealer. Once your tax stamp is approved by the ATF, you may return to your dealer and pick up your MISB.
In the case you choose to file ownership of your MISB under a trust, ALL named trustees must be present in order to take fingerprinting and sign paperwork. Federal law now requires all members of a trust to be documented and fingerprinted.
I live in a different state. How do I get an MISB?
Please find an SOT-licensed dealer with the link above. You will follow the same process as the second option.
What is the average turnaround time for conversions?
Custom builds and conversions take 6-8 months from the day we receive the rifle to the day we have the rifle shipped/delivered. Unique parts orders may extend the turnaround time.
How long does a tax stamp take for approval?
For individual Form 4 submissions, average approval time is around 2-3 weeks. Trust submissions tend to take longer time, but we see approvals in less than one month on average.
Can I start my paperwork now before my dealer receives my MISB?
No, unfortunately. With the way the ATF handles tax stamp submissions, your dealer must have hands-on possession of your MISB in order to submit a tax stamp application.
Can I add a thread-on suppressor to the end of my MISB?
No. The addition of another suppressor will not produce extra suppression for most barrels unless the barrel is built at a shorter length than what we recommend, but that is caliber-dependent. Regardless, we do not recommend adding extra suppression to your MISB.
How does barrel length get determined with the MISB?
Barrel length is largely dependent on your choice of caliber. Some calibers favor less rifling while others require more length for effective gunpowder burn.
Overall barrel length consists of the rifling and suppressor baffles.
- For calibers smaller than .30 Cal, we build barrels with 6” of suppressor baffles and leave the rest of the barrel length in rifling. Eg. A 7MM RM barreled action will get a 28” overall length barrel, with a 6” suppressor baffle stack built into it with 22” of effective rifling.
- .30 Cal and larger will get an 8” suppressor baffle stack. Eg. 308 Win will get a 24” overall barrel length, with an 8” suppressor baffle stack and 16” of rifling.
If you would like to opt for a different barrel length, the amount of rifling will be changed while the suppressor baffle lengths are fixed. These suppressor baffle lengths are what we find to be most effective for these calibers. We have minimum barrel lengths depending on the caliber but we can often go for longer lengths for custom builds and conversions.

What if I sent you a pre-chambered barrel? Will you mill your MISB design into it?
So long as you send us a chambered barrel with an 1.25” OD, we will be able to mill our suppressor design into it.
